Project Red Nineteen

Forza Italia! Not only did Italy walk away with the World Cup this year, but Schumacher won the German Grand Prix this weekend in his Ferrari. How appropriate, then, that we feature a Ferrari themed mod today!
We've previously reviewed one of Acer's
Ferrari monitors, and buying one provided the inspiration for Lazlow to get started on a matching case mod. The base case is an Enermax Twilight, which is a bit of a rough pre-mod. However, it's now looking pretty spectacular...
The whole fascia has been remodelled, and this requires some fairly hefty putty/filler work. Some of the holes have stayed, however, including the front 80mm fan. After the filler, the whole thing needs an industrial grade sanding.
Internal paint jobs are clearly the thing at the moment, with this one being primed and then sprayed in a gorgeous Ferrari red (although technically, the shade is called Nissan red, bizarrely!) It needed around five coats to get a proper finish, then a couple of coats of lacquer on top.
No homage to the racing greats would be complete without an appropriate badge. This one is a tie-pin style that has had the back hacked off. It looks very happy slapped on the front of the case!
This is the only mod featured today that has actually been finished! It's worth reading the
full log to see how it all came together. It's not a spectacular scratch build, but it is a very good example of attention to detail and great execution of a strong idea. We really love the design and finish - a worthy addition to the desktop of a Ferrari fan!
